北京语言大学网站10月11日发布情况通报称，得知学校刘强老师不幸于美国当地时间10月7日上午去世，感到非常震惊和无比悲痛!
北京语言大学表示，目前正与中国驻美国芝加哥总领馆和美国韦伯斯特大学保持密切沟通，安排人员赴美，共同敦促美国警方尽快告知调查结果。

刘强老师是外国语学部教师，2019年1月作为中方院长赴美国韦伯斯特大学孔子学院工作。
学校对该事件高度关注，第一时间成立专项工作组，及时慰问家属，跟进处理善后事宜。目前正与中国驻美国芝加哥总领馆和美国韦伯斯特大学保持密切沟通，安排人员赴美，共同敦促美国警方尽快告知调查结果。
据美国当地媒体《圣路易斯邮报》9日报道，韦伯斯特大学孔子学院一位中方代表刘强在被警方和美国联邦调查局(FBI)搜查住所后死亡。
An official of Webster University's Confucius Institute died after police and the FBI searched his home Tuesday, officials said.
据报道，该校发言人里克·洛克威尔9日在一份电子邮件中称，校方于7日从警方处得知刘强死亡的消息。
The university learned of Qiang "David" Liu's death from police Wednesday, spokesman Rick Rockwell said Friday in an email.
据悉，刘强自2019年1月以来，一直担任北京语言大学在该孔子学院的代表。
Liu served as a representative of the Beijing Language and Cultural University at the institute and had been there since January of 2019.
根据韦伯斯特大学孔子学院官网的介绍，该孔子学院是韦伯斯特大学与北京语言大学以及中国国家汉语国际推广领导小组办公室的合作项目，成立于2008年。
《韦伯斯特大学日报》10日报道称，当天上午，韦伯斯特大学领导层还就刘强去世发表了一份声明。
声明称：
没有证据或理由相信所报告的调查或刘先生的死亡与学校的孔子学院有关，或与整个学校有关。
The University has no evidence or reason to believe that the reported investigation or Mr. Liu's death relates in any way to the Confucius Institute at Webster University or, more generally, to the University.
学校将进行调查，以确定是否有任何证据证明与此事件有关的学校社区成员受到伤害。
Webster University will conduct an investigation to determine whether there is any evidence of harm to any member of the University community relating to this matter.
学校对刘先生去世的消息以及周五晚有关刘先生的新闻报道感到难过。但是，随着事情的发展，将继续致力于支持大学社区成员。
Webster University is saddened by the news of Mr. Liu's death as well as Friday evening's press report regarding Mr. Liu. We will, however, remain focused on supporting members of the University community as this matter develops.
